With Style This Good, These Emmy Noms Are Already Winning

The 2014 Emmy-nominated actresses have more than one talent. When they’re not acting in our favorite shows, they’re probably showing off our favorite looks, because beyond television, these women have real-life style.

For some, style is a part of the show – if you’re watching Kerry Washington on Scandal or Robin Wright on House of Cards, then you know what we mean. For others, who may play orange-jumpsuit-clad prisoners, that’s just not the case. Fortunately, when we’re not binge-watching our favorite series, we’re tuning into the red carpet to see these talented women all glammed up. Just scroll on to see 16 of our favorite nominated actress and why they rule (on and off screen) – then check out what we hope they’ll wear at this year’s awards, too.

Now Fashion Week Is Even Shorter Than We Thought

OK – it’ll only be shorter by two hours. But When Marc Jacobs announced he’d be moving his show to the 6 p.m. time slot on Sept. 11, instead of the usual 8 p.m., we really started to sense the changes that are to come. But the good news is all of these modifications to the NYFW schedule are for good reason. Marc’s minor switch is simply a courteous move to allow the editors traveling to London a little extra time to get to the airport. And, that’s not the only way we’re seeing a boost in efficiency.

A few weeks ago the CFDA took to Instagram with a major announcement that the organization has officially acquired the Fashion Calendar. As president, Diane von Furstenberg plans to better oversee the management of Fashion Week – from runway shows to events - in order to maintain the foundation of the industry, which consists of the press, retailers, and, of course, designers.

In short, this should make for a bright future. After all, in the time it takes to scroll through an Instagram feed - and digest all the day’s news – a runway show begins and ends. With the rapid pace of Fashion Week, the industry stands to benefit from the highly organized minds at the CFDA, and if last year is any indication, this is sure to be only the first of many shake-ups.

Is Beyoncé Prepping Blue Ivy’s Back-to-School Wardrobe?

The piece: Beyoncé Back to School Bundle

The price: $ 75

Why we want it: Back-to-school season is upon us, and what with overalls, sneakers, and rompers all having major runway-approved moments, it’s a wonder that actually going back to elementary school hasn’t been deemed on-trend and mandated by the fashion elite.

The closest thing might just be Beyoncé’s recent foray into the school-supplies market. On her site, she’s selling a kit that little Blue Ivy will probably be toting when she first jets off to preschool. Complete with a tote bag, pencil case, and a graphic scribble tee, this set might just be the chicest way to hit the books. (Even her composition notebook is cool.)

Sure, it’s a steep price for some pencils and paper, but we still think it’s pretty adorable to imagine what inspired Bey’s latest retail venture. Scroll down to see all the items in the bundle.

Kate Middleton Is Champion of the Match Game

What goes better with a pretty dress than a posh royal? How about shoes and heels to match. Kate Middleton has already conquered the coat and hat game, but true to her family’s lineage, she’s mastered yet another skill that’s made us take notice: the art of coordination.

Once put down for being too rigid, the matchy-matchy aesthetic has gotten a major vote of confidence from the Duchess, who has worn shoes to match her dress, bags to match her heels, and everything in between (can you say coat-and-fascinator set? She sure did). So we’re bowing to Kate’s most excellent wardrobe harmony and awarding her a medal of coordination for the following looks.

These 5’3″ and Under Stars Don’t Let Height Stand in the Way of Fashion

So what if the old rule books say that there are certain style restrictions on the 5’3″ and under set?
