Behind Every Power Clutch Is a Punch of Personality

Yes, crossbody bags are an easy go-to anytime of year. In the Summer, you’d prefer to stay light and cool, with as little to hold onto as possible. And when it gets cold, you probably like to keep your hands in your pockets. So a clutch may not be the most ideal when you’ve got a lot of, well, baggage. But lately, they’re making a major statement on the street – and we can’t help but notice.

There’s something about grasping a bright, fringe-embellished pouch that lends you more confidence. And with all the eye-catching details on these brand-new designs, you’re really putting your personality out there just by holding onto one. So this week, we’re letting ourselves be inspired by our favorite fashion bloggers. Charlotte Olympia, Olympia Le-Tan – we’re coming for you.

The 8 Runway Trends You’ll Be Wearing in Spring 2015

New York Fashion Week is coming to a close, and before we jet off across the pond to see what the runways have in store for us in London, Milan, and Paris, we’re working overtime to make sure you know what you’ll be wearing come Spring 2015, now. We scoured every buzzworthy runway to determine what will be the next season’s biggest fashion trends.

What we found were subtle nods to the 1970s, sporty touches that don’t require a gym membership, shoulder-baring silhouettes, and gingham prints that are so not your grandmother’s. Keep reading to identify all the key looks, and check back in often as we update our report with what’s trending on the European scene.

Getting Funky With It: The Street Style Accessories That Really Flashed

If there’s any time to work your outfit around your most striking accessories, it’s now. Because while we can always appreciate an embellished clutch or sky-high snakeskin heels, the fashion world is superalert to quirky add-ons during Fashion Month. And, as any style star knows, it’s the little things that count – from choosing bright accoutrements that contrast entire ensembles to layering eye-catching jewelry in a way that calls for a close-up.

So we scouted the streets for the best little (or big!) details that had us completely awe-inspired at NYFW. Scroll down to get your fill of bags that sent out a message and adornments that stopped traffic. Next up? We’re heading to London – and it can only get crazier and quirkier from here.

Come on a Safari With Ralph Lauren

When you’re greeted in the lobby of Ralph Lauren‘s Spring 2015 show by an exotic floral arrangement, you know you’re in for something transportive. In a hall lined with chandeliers wrapped with tulle (make that mosquito netting) the audience was whisked away from New York Fashion Week to the depths of Africa. And that was before a single stiletto hit the runway.

With the first step of a cargo-clad model, the hunt was on for the Spring pieces that are sure to attack the red carpet (we’re looking at you, front-row guest Julianne Moore!).

From perfect khaki trenches and dresses to the type of neon tulle gowns that would do anything but camouflage their wearers, Lauren surprised and delighted from start to finish.

And speaking of finishings, the jewels – as if plucked from the colors of nature – dangled and dripped from the models. There would be no roughing it on this safari adventure!

How Does Zac Posen Really Feel About Street Style Bloggers?

Zac Posen‘s show is always a delight – it’s sophisticated and elegant, and you can always count on a Coco Rocha spotting. This season, Zac kept it more minimal and classic, leaving off embellishments and sticking to a streamlined palette of black, red, and white. The story for Spring is a woman right after her engagement. She says yes, jumps in the shower, and then throws on a gown, hence the slicked, wet-looking hairstyle Zac is pitching for Spring, and we’re totally digging it.

The Stars Are Sitting Pretty in the Fashion Week Front Row

When you’re a star, it’s front row or bust at Fashion Week. And with several days of New York Fashion Week in the bag, we’ve gotten a glimpse of stylish celebs like Allison Williams, who turned up for Rag & Bone’s cool-girl catwalk, and Rihanna, who supported her go-to designer, Adam Selman.

Not to be outdone, the parties definitely represented with star power. And perhaps the week’s biggest bash has already happened, because Thursday night brought Naomi Watts and Keri Russell out for the Altuzarra for Target launch party. See all the stars lighting up the front row in the gallery!
